For more than 40 years I have created many websites, written books, and designed programs that have caring as a common theme. My work reveals what I believe to be the most important insights about caring based on my experience and what the research shows. This website provides me with an opportunity to share what I have learned with you.
Before joining KSU I taught at Texas Tech Univerity and was Director of their Child Development Center. I taught four year olds at the Purdue University Child Development Laboratory as well as at Texas Tech. I began my professional career as a Play Therapist at Barney Children's Medical Center in Dayton Ohio.
I am now a retired Professor Emeritus in the School of Family Studies and Human Services at Kansas State University where I was a state specialist for 35 years focusing on parents and children. I was essentially a blue-collar academic with a focus on creating and introducing educational programs for children, parents, and teachers. I loved traveling throughout Kansas to conduct these programs. I also enjoyed presenting workshops and conducting conference keynotes throughout the country.
